The book I just finished reading is Messenger, by Lois Lowry. In this novel, a boy named Matty is gifted with the rare and special power of “healing.” This means he has the ability to cure illness, injury, deformities, and other disabilities. The only problem is every time Matty uses his gift, he grows weaker. When an evil comes to Matty’s community, it corrupts the good souls of the people into something destructive. Now, Matty has the chance to heal his community and allow things to return to normal, knowing it will kill him if he does. The question I have for you is, would you be able to sacrifice your life in order to save the ones you love?
